- Children, Adolescents, & Adult Psychotherapy -
Jennifer has been a licensed clinical social worker for over 20 years and has worked in outpatient clinics, hospitals, group homes, and school settings. She is currently in private practice where she provides both short and long term psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and children. She works primarily within a psychodynamic framework and employs cognitive behavioral strategies to address specific issues and supplement therapy. When appropriate for young children, she utilizes play therapy to work through issues that a young patient is unable to explore verbally.
After earning her MSW from New York University’s School of Social Work in 1995, she worked in a variety of settings including the Child Guidance Center of Southern CT, The School Based Health Center at Dolan Middle School, and the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Stamford, CT. Throughout these settings she worked with a variety of populations and has successfully treated people experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, family and/or marital conflict, illness, and developmental issues.
With the birth of her second child, who was born with cerebral palsy, she became active in the special needs community and worked as an advocate with Collaborative Advocacy Associates, helping to support families in getting appropriate special educational services for their children. She currently co-leads therapeutic support groups for parents of children with special needs. Jennifer brings to her work both her professional expertise and also her personal experience as a parent navigating the world of special needs.
Along with her clinical experience, it is her dedication, genuine compassion, and use of humor that add to Jennifer’s approachable style and relatability. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and three children.
